Gehlar Hall Classroom Reservation Request

Our Purpose

The mission of the Ankeny Hill Nature Center is to provide educational and interpretive opportunities to connect people with nature. We seek to expand our knowledge of the natural environment and develop a greater understanding of the cultural and historical importance of the Ankeny Hill area.

Reservation Request Guidelines

Activities planned for the use of the classroom spaces (indoor and outdoor covered) must align with the environmental education mission of the Ankeny Hill Nature Center.

You may request a reservation for any single-day use from 9 am to 3 pm. You may use all or part of those 6 hours.

If you have a learning program requiring repeating or sequential days, please call 541-760-3036, so we can explore the possibilities.

(NOTE: Priority is given to requests for Tuesday or Thursday.)

Groups that may request use of the facility include:

• Educational organizations — Schools (including home schools), colleges and university classes, recognized organizations or clubs from those institutions.
• Community-based nonprofit organizations — Youth groups (e.g., scouts, 4H, etc.) or environmental groups (e.g., Audubon Society, Natural resource conservation, botanical and horticultural, garden clubs, water quality, and wetland protection groups, etc.).
• Professional organizations and businesses.
• Government agencies.

Please Note: Requests for private parties (e.g., birthdays, reunions, weddings, etc.) will not be considered.

Reservation requests should be submitted with enough lead time to allow our small staff to confirm your needs and fit within our mission. We would appreciate at least two weeks' notice if possible.

Requests will be processed in the order received, and we will do our best to give you an answer to your request as quickly as we are possible.

Please plan your arrival for approximately 15 minutes before the start of your program to allow for a brief Nature Center orientation.

Grades K-3: Adult-to-student ratio of 1:5 Grades 4+: Adult-to-student ratio of 1:10

Thank you for taking time to create a high-quality outdoor education experience for your students/group members. Planning ahead ensures your learners have the best field trip possible! If we are not able to schedule your requested time and date, we will contact you to try to arrange an alternate date. We will respond to your request as quickly as possible.
